Dr. Frodsham was born in Indianapolis, IN, but moved around a lot as a child: Texas, Brazil, Texas again and Utah. It was clear even as a young child that he was a people helper at his very core, so medicine was a natural fit for him.

Interventional Radiology was less evident. He entered medical school thinking he’d end up in Emergency Medicine or maybe Orthopedic Surgery; but after he heard about a specialty where doctors were using technology and imaging as the eyes while they did major procedures (stroke treatments, stopping gastro-intestinal bleeding, cancer therapies, etc.) he was hooked!

He spent four years at Yale University, Hospital of St. Raphael learning and practicing radiology reading and interpretation before doing his Fellowship in Vascular and Interventional Radiology at Brown University, Rhode Island Hospital. He developed his love and skills in treating cancers, vascular disease and spine work with some of the best IR physicians in the country.

The call of the mountains and deserts of Utah brought Dr. Frodsham happily back to Utah where he’s worked in both private and academic hospitals. His conviction about providing exceptional medical care in outpatient settings inspired him to partner with Dr. Joel Rainwater and bring the first outpatient Interventional Radiology clinic to Utah.

When he’s not improving and saving patients’ lives, he can be found skiing, surfing (not in Utah), doing yoga, biking, hiking, cooking (you haven’t lived until he’s grilled a burger for you), and laughing with friends and family.

Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Extensive critical care experience

Melissa was born and raised in Salt Lake, and after exciting careers as a make-up artist for the news station (which is explains why she always looks perfect) and a flight attendant, she followed in her mother’s footsteps and became a nurse.

She worked for the past six years as a Charge Nurse in a busy emergency department in the heart of SLC, but her passion for high-acuity patients led her to follow her heart, along with the hearts of many cardiac patients, to leave the ER for the cardiac cath lab. She worked in one of the 50 Cath Labs in the United States. Melissa to this day maintains her relationships with the physicians she worked so closely with, and refers to these days fondly with them as the “days we saved lives together.”

Melissa is the wife of a strapping and brave Salt Lake City firefighter and the mother of two teen “wild childs” as she calls them. She loves to travel together with her brood all over the world, and watching her “wilds” light up at the sight of the Eifel Tower for the first time was priceless.

Melissa met Dr. Frodsham and was immediately drawn to the genuine way he provides his patients with high-quality care. “He’s a natural. He reminds me of myself: we’re so passionate about wanting the very best for all of our patients.”

He has a family tradition of spending a week in Moab each year. This trip mainly gets him away from every day life, but also affords him the luxury of enjoying Utah’s beautiful scenery and national parks.

Professionally, Chris comes from a family of caregivers: his mother and sister are both nurses and his father works in radiology. Chris has honed his skills in radiology for over a decade of exceptional work in X-Ray, CT, MRI, Cath Lab and IR.

Kiernan grew up outside Houston with her Mom, Dad and two younger brothers. She graduated from Texas State University with a BA in Communications. After graduation, an illustrious career in floral design took her to Los Angeles.

Her family moved to Salt Lake City and she soon followed, answering the undeniable call into heath care and studied Radiology at Weber State University, and following that up with a certificate program in Computed Tomography at The University of Utah. After a few years working as a CT Tech she transferred into the Angio Department where she shined at Huntsman Cancer Hospital and met Dr. Frodsham. She was looking to have more time to spend with her family, and Dr. Frodsham kept in touch over the years and hired her as the first Angio Tech at CIC Salt Lake City.

Kiernan loves spending time with her two adorable dogs, fiancé and his two teenagers. She loves hiking, camping, exploring Utah with her crew, and enjoys building, creating, remodeling and design which she uses to beautify our office in Salt Lake. Stop in and see what she’s done this month!

Johanna had a happy childhood, growing up in Los Angeles, CA with her parents. She moved around a bit, living in Mexico and moving back and forth between California and Utah. She finally made Salt Lake a permanent home, and it’s a good thing for anyone who comes to CiC she did.

Johanna has beautiful, large doe-eyes, but don’t be fooled, her heart is her biggest asset. She has a straight-up obsession with animals (just ask her to show you a picture of her dog, Ariel, or show her a picture of a baby cow or donkey and she’ll be your friend for LIFE)! She also spends her spare time volunteering to make sure people at the homeless shelters in Salt Lake have food and clothing. She’s basically a golden unicorn!

Having watched her mom go through medical problems and seeing the best and worst medical care has to offer, she’s always been interested in medical fields. She got her Associates Degree in Occupational Science and graduated from MRI school. Her favorite part of her job is interacting with the amazing patients at CiC and seeing them get healthier.
